Hammond Solovox J (1940)
The fabulous baby sister to the famous Hammond Novachord, the Solovox is a monosynth, similar to the Clavioline and Univox J6. It’s basic idea was also resurrected in 1958 on the Hammond S6 Chord Organ.
It has a very organic sound, and is rather temperamental at the best of times, but can create some quite otherworldly sounds!
Completely overhauled by Steve Christie a few years back, after it survived the New Orleans hurricane.
